First, credit where credit is due. I saw the Sofia Glam Affair skins on Stella Stapleton’s blog where she had a picture of the special Sofia “scar” skin at The Dressing Room This Way (30, 167, 2502) for only L$70 (yeah, that price beats a demo skin any day.)

So after trying on the L$70 skin, I made a beeline for the main store, but I didn’t find the skins right away. Not that I was complaining – landing inside the main store level is seriously dangerous to your Linden balance. The clothes at Glam Affair are superb. My favorite by far (so far) has been the Ziwen dress (shown in the picture above) with its sparkle styling and the genius sculptie prim skirt. It hangs so beautifully it looks almost real.

Attention to detail on the Sofia skins which are beautifully executed. Creator aida Ewing follows her creative muse with confidence in skin design and her clothing designs. For example, Sofia has a number of striking makeups, but goes against the grain in refusing to package skins with heavily shaded cleavage. aida tells me that her skins have to be beautiful for herself first, before she will put them out for her customers.

Even in the gift packaged up for her group, Malaika (shown in the striking aqua color above), there are several “shadow” layers included in the outfit which provide detailed and realistic shadows for the prim pieces in the dress.

There may not be a finer test of clothing design skill in Second Life than creating realistic looking lace effects and here Glam Affair comes through with flying colors – designs that are as beautifully executed as they are sexy. The lace trim on these lingerie pieces had me floored as I looked them over.

aida just released a new Lady Gaga skin based on the Alejandro video and she has more skins in the works, including (happily for me) darker skin tones that Sofia (which maxes out the dark tones at a medium-tan hue) – and there’s another release of the “Elements” haute couture line called simply Elements Two which draws inspiration from runway shows and fashion influences all around aida.
